Full-time or Part-time, early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Position Summary:

Prepare and cook to order a variety of foods that require only a short preparation time.

Work Environment:  

  • Hands-on store setting
  • Non-smoking
  • Work area includes food, stoves, knives, slippery floors, and possible extreme heat


Minimum 1 year as a restaurant cook

Technical Skills/   Training/Certification:

  •   Ability   to read company materials (e.g., recipes, charts, training materials, etc.)
  •   Successfully completed East Bay Deli training program
  •   Good understanding of recipes
  •   Understand how to use cookware and machinery

Physical   Requirements:

  •   Bend, stoop, and reach to receive inventory, stock, serve customers and clean store
  •   Carry up to 50lbs.
  •   Stand and walk on a hard surface for 10 to 12 hours a day
  •   Quickly identify safety placards and hazardous situations to avoid or minimize   injuries
  •   Identify food quality through taste, texture, color, and odor

  •   Grill, cook, and fry foods such as french fries, eggs, and pancakes.
  •   Clean food preparation equipment, work areas, and counters or tables.
  •   Cook foods requiring short preparation times, according to customer   specifications.
  •   Grill and garnish hamburgers.
  •   Restock kitchen supplies, rotate food, and date food in coolers.
  •   Perform food preparation tasks, such as making sandwiches and wraps, slicing meats and cheeses, making soups or salads, preparing items on a flat top grill,   preparing items in a fryer
  •   Plan work on orders so that items served together are finished at the same time.
  •   Complete orders from steam tables, placing food on plates
  •   Perform general cleaning activities in kitchen and dining areas.
  •   Stock supplies on shelves.
  •   Follow recipes
  •   Obtain information from individuals
  •   Receive verbal instructions as to food order
  •   Read work order, instructions, formulas, or processing charts
